Elvira
Kurt Headlines the Entertainment for the Pride in the
Park Festival at the 2002 Long Island Pride Parade!
By Louis
Trapani
You
may have seen Elvira Kurt bring laughter and a bit
of shock to the stage of her Comedy Central Special
(which coincidentally was repeated the weekend prior to her
outing this Sunday at the LI Pride Parade). In her special,
the Canadian born comedienne brought the audience back to
their childhood and made various humorous comparisons between
it and adulthood. Two thirds into her performance she reveals
to a dumbfounded audience the fact that she is a lesbian.
There's a subtle hush in the audience after the revelation
in which Kurt masterfully uses to her own advantage in making
a point about perceptions. She is witty and entertaining.
Her impressions of her mother parallels those of Margot Cho.
She is sure to have the Long Island community rolling on the
lawn this coming Sunday, June 9th in Huntington.
Joining
Elvira Kurt in the 12th Annual Long Island Pride Parade
and Festival will be Pandora's
Vox. Returning after last year by popular demand when
they rocked the parked ringing in the festivities. Funny man

illusionist Mirkala Crystal. If that is not enough,

live stage show (coming soon to Bethpage) of Hedwig and
the Angry Inch!
